A qualitative descriptive study assessing the cumulative impacts of extreme heat and poor air quality. This study explores a framework for defining cumulative impacts of environmental stressors and analyzes perspectives of Michigan healthcare professionals regarding their patients' experiences in practice.
Presenter:
Samantha Pickering is the Public and Environmental Health Policy Manager for the Michigan Environmental Council, where she leads policy initiatives related to environmental hazards and their impact on human health. Additionally, she is currently completing her Master of Public Health and Urban Sustainability at Wayne State University. Through this, she spent the last semester with MiCCA completing her practicum research on the cumulative impacts of extreme heat and poor air quality. With a strong focus on environmental and social justice, she advocates for reducing exposure to environmental contaminants and improving health outcomes for Michigan families.
